The Crew of the Rocinante (the Start of Rogue Stars)

I've  wanted to do a narrative sci-fi game for a very long time and I have had a story and location in my head for quite sometime now.  But didn't have a set of rules that I thought I could use apart from the rules by "2hour wargames 5150" but "Ospreys Rogue Stars" has caught my attention.

So I am in the process of creating a crew and ship to carry them in. But I saw some images that I thought fitted my vision for the crew.

None of these images are mine I have taken them off the internet to illustrate what I'm trying to do.
I did place individual art together to show the crew

The Crew

Morgan: A.K.A: 'Kap'

Not one to take orders easily Morgan chaffed in military service. But it gave him his chance to get off his home world (World being a generous word) and learn to fly. He was not a homeless street urchin but his parent were always forced to work hard so he found entertainment on the streets and ran is dubious circles.
After his 5 year stint with the Sol Forces and defending the small but growing human territories his skill set and connections had grown.
Over the years he has been on both sides of the law and has enjoyed almost every minute of it.

Gabriel:A.K.A: 'Angel'

Gabriel wander onto the Ship one day asking for a Job. Morgan hired her instantly not because of her skill set but for her looks. Athletic and beautiful. But he has never regrated it. A true marks woman from range and as deadly in hand to hand. Which Morgan found out the first time he tried something with her.  She has gained his respect. by saving him several times.

He still knows really nothing about her!

Kinds:A.K.A: 'Gramps'

An ex-military gruff and grizzled mechanic/engineer/computers who was on Morgan's team.
Kinds was injured in a boarder skirmish with the "TaRok" who overran a supply depot they were stationed. Morgan rescued him and others in the chaos on a transport.
Kinds lost an arm but was in Morgan's debt. Once he had finished paying off the military for the replacement arm. (A further 5 year stint) Kinds tracked Morgan Down after some time and offered to team up.

T.I.N.5:A.K.A: 'Tins'

Another cast off that Morgan found on his travels.  Literally found on a scrap heap.
Morgan had found the robot partially crushed (one arm and below the torso) but still power seemed to be running through its systems. "Possible worth something". Once back on the ship and running diagnostics he found that most of its operations programming had been wiped. Kinds and Morgan decided they needed a lackey so they repaired him "kind of".  They Named him "Tins" due to the letters T.I.N.5 stenciled on his chest.
Tins can be quirky at times. Robots generally don't have personalities programed in but both Morgan and Kinds do wonder were he gets his glitches from.

The Rocinante.

As a young man Morgan found the ex-military troop transport abandoned drifting in space while on the run himself. He was able to tow it to a place of safety.  Badly scorched and some damaged to the hull and minor system damage but no major systems seemed to be unfixable.

Rocinante is an out of date "Quick Response Troop Transport". Possibly 150 to 200 years old. Solid and dependable but small compared to others but had an engine system that was able to use the "Port Nodes" between systems. Original set up had a large enough cargo area (room for one to two mid size transports and supplies), enough bunk space for 15 men (now converted to 4 small cabins and further storage), a galley and a small Medic Room.

Military grade weapons had been removed presumably before being sold to whoever abandoned it  but it still had some defensive capacities.  But over the years Morgan has been able to repair and add upgrades to much of the ship.

Battletech...A blast from the Past!!!

As stated I am time poor or unable to time manage.  I still try and catch up with friends when I can.  From this was the need to pull out an old favourite "BattleTech".

In the Mid 80's I was infatuated with the Robotech cartoon series.  So in 1987 I picked up a wargaming magazine and saw an ad for BattleTech and a short story and I was hooked. It may have been about a year when I was able to pick up the boxset in the only gaming store in my home town.

The next problem was to find someone to play with.  That took some time but once I did some friends interested we played every spare minute. But while I was waiting this came out "The Crescent Hawk's Inception", so a true addiction was born.

Forward to today.  A new Computer game for BattleTech is out.  Two new Box set have been released for the miniature game.  More story lines to follow, New Mech miniatures from various different manufactures gives you no end of possibilities.  Also different rule types, either the Classic or Alpha strike.

"Its a great time to be gaming."

Well it has been a while.

It has been some time since posting last.  Life has a way of getting in the road.  It has been almost 4 plus years in shift work now and it has a way to kill chances to game. And I went down the easier route of computer games such as "World of Tanks" and "Blood Bowl 2". Unfortunately I need to upgrade my computer to get my "BattleTech" to work.

But in the past few months I have got my Computer/gaming room back and have been repopulating it with my old collection and some new stuff I have picked up on the way. The painting table is a dumping ground at the moment.
